Year GroupTopics

Depending upon the age of our children and the learning focus, year group topics may run for either half a term or a whole term. Learning is delivered through an overarching topic and driven by ‘Big Questions’ which children seek to answer as they travel their learning journey. Sometimes, learning may be more subject focused if the areas of the National Curriculum needing to be delivered do not fit coherently within the topic. In taking a more subject approach when required, we are able to ensure breadth and depth in learning across all National Curriculum subjects.

A focus on high quality oracy experiences features across all aspects of our curriculum delivery. In addition, we ensure that links are made between and across subjects, thus aiding development of knowledge and skills as well as supporting memory retention.
